New 40kA Track Circuit Protection
The New Novaris TCP-2.5-40-230 is our latest design in high energy track circuit protection. The principles behind the TCP-2.5-40-230 track circuit protector is that it is small, provide high kA protection, failure indication and cannot cause wrong side failures. The TCP-2.5-40-230 joins the Novaris range of Track Circuit Protection products and with its small foot print of only 12mm it will change the way we design track circuits.
Principles and operation
The basic principle behind the track circuit lies in the connection of the two rails by the wheels and axle of locomotives and rolling stock to short out an electrical circuit. This circuit is monitored by electrical equipment to detect the absence of the trains. Since this is a safety appliance, fail-safe operation is crucial; therefore the circuit is designed to indicate the presence of a train when failures occur. On the other hand, false occupancy readings are disruptive to railway operations and are to be minimised.
At Novaris we manufacture a range of Track Circuit Protectors for use in different applications E.G. in tunnels, high lightning areas, low lightning areas, hard wired or replaceable module, from 20kA to 100kA.
